Searching for Measures of College and Career Readiness: the Perspectives of Students, Teachers, Administrators and State and County Officials

October 2017

Based on more than 130 interviews and focus groups with decision makers at the state level, local school leaders, teachers, and students, Searching for Measures of College and Career Readiness: the Perspectives of Students, Teachers, Administrators and State and County Officials finds that students, teachers and local administrators embrace California’s commitment to college and career readiness (CCR), but are deeply concerned that they do not have clear guidance about what constitutes an effective CCR program. While high quality CCR programs add value to students’ high school experiences by offering applied learning opportunities, information about post-high school academic and work expectations, and personal relationships with caring adults, educators and administrators desire more state direction. Searching for Measures adds new voices to the CCR conversation that warrant consideration as the state refines the College/Career Indicator.
