Rebecca Woolston

Research Associate

Rebecca received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sacramento State. She also holds an MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills College and a BA in English with a minor in History from Sacramento State. She was a Division I student-athlete, competing all four years for Sacramento State’s Women’s Rowing team. She is a proud first-generation college student, which contributes to her research interest of student empowerment and engagement, and increasing access to secondary education.

Her dissertation examined how the culture of the U.S. affects and responds to curricular representations in American Literature courses across the CSU, taking a particular look at student’s experiences of such spaces. Research interests include power structures, reading and writing curricula, literature, pedagogy, and cultural studies. She’s especially interested in examining these topics through the intersection of feminist, queer, and antiracist theories.
