Laura is the K-16 Research and Policy Director at EdInsights. In this role she oversees the organization’s high school-to-college transitions work focused on researching ways to support student progress through the education pipeline, supporting cross-system educational partnerships, and examining policy implications of current college and career readiness efforts. She is interested in connecting lessons from the field to education policy and practice. As a mixed-methods researcher, Laura brings to her current work a deep understanding of the college and career readiness landscape in California and a passion for capturing student and educator perspectives. Before she joined EdInsights, Laura was a Research Associate at WestEd, where a significant amount of her work focused on issues related to postsecondary and career readiness, access, and success for underserved student populations. Prior to joining WestEd, she was a researcher at the National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST). She started her career as a program evaluator at LFA Group. She received a BA in psychology and Spanish from the University of Michigan and an MA in human development and psychology from UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies.
